Ukraine grain exports down in 2020-21 season

KIEV, UKRAINE — Ukraine’s grain exports were down in the 2020-21 marketing season compared with the previous year, Reuters reported, citing economy ministry data.
The country’s grain exports slipped 21.5% to 32.9 million tones so far in the July 2020 – June 2021 season.
A total of 13.85 million tones of wheat was sold as well as 14.53 million tones of corn and 3.97 million tones of barley, Reuters reported.
A 17.5-million-tonne wheat export quota was set for the 2020-21 July-June season, meaning exporters have used about 79% of the total quota by exporting 13.85 million tones of wheat this season.
Ukraine exported about 57 million tones of grain in the 2019-20 season, but the Ukrainian government estimates grain exports could decline to 45.4 million tones in the 2020-21 season due to a smaller harvest, Reuters reported.
